8 Tips To Clean Your Hardwood Floors

Hardwood floors creates a warm feature in your home. But they require some special care. Caring for your hardwood floors is different than caring for ceramic tile floor or linoleum.
TIPS FOR CLEANING HARDWOOD FLOORS
Sweep the floors often with a soft, fine bristle broom .
Vacuum once or twice a week to remove debris. Make sure you use a soft brush attachment to prevent scratching, along with the bare floor setting on your vacuum.
Remove any wet spills immediately! It will cause damage to your hardwood floors.
Use a very dry damp mop since the water can seep into the cracks and ruin a wood floor. The best cleaning solution is 1 cup of vinegar to 1 gallon of warm water. Vinegar is a natural disinfectant and not harsh like other cleaning solutions.
Never drag furniture or other objects over the wood floor. Invest in furniture pads that enable you to slide your furniture for easy cleaning and prevent dents in your hardwood floors.
Do not wear heavy shoes or high heels on hardwood floors. This could cause dents.
Invest in floor mats to place at each entrance to prevent tracking in dirt from the bottoms of shoes.
Use runners in high traffic areas to prevent wearing of the finish. And to catch some of that dirt that did not make it on the entry mats!
Even with all the proper cleaning, your hardwood floors will need buff and recoat, usually within 3 to 5 years. Around the 10 year mark, your hardwood floors will need to be sanded and refinished.
